Ann Arbor Tree Cycle

This group is a replacement for Ann Arbor FreeCycle. I was the original founder of the freecycle list in Ann Arbor but I have some problems with the way Freecycle is run. It strikes me as being a franchise and not a grasroots movement like it claims to be. So if you freecycled before I hope we can get treecycle going.

Hi there,

I gotta come up and visit your fair city in the next couple of weeks. (busy checking flights/budget/etc now...)

I want to check out your University up there and look at accomodations/jobs etc. for a few days.

Questions:
Do I need a rental car- or is your town pretty good with public transport? or is the distance between things such that I can walk?

Where's the cheepest place to stay? any advice. of course i'm looking up places but thought hey- couldn't hurt to ask.

How's the Rent up there? and is there a good online source for checking out this info? Are there areas of town to just AVOID no matter the cost?

places that are a must see?

any other advice? how's your job market there? is everyone looking or lots to choose from or bout average?

whats your weather right now. i'm sure its just f'n Cold and your now angry i even brought it up like there could be a difference in the middle of january.

alrighty, any advice, (except "don't come" i guess) is welcome and Greatly Appreciated. I don't know a soul there. I don't even know anyone who's been there for that matter. its been hard to ask around.

Learn the ancient art of felting. Use warm soapy water to turn fluffy wool into a dense durable fabric. Participants will learn to make felt balls and felt purses. (Note this technique does not involve knitting or crocheting.)

$40 fee includes workshop, and materials for 3-4 projects.
Limit 20 people. Your payment reserves your space.

Carson and Barnes Circus Protest

I’m organizing a protest against the Carson and Barnes Circus which is coming to two MetroParks in the area: Lake Erie MetroPark in Brownstown (August 12) and Metro Beach in Harrison Twp (August 13). What's your ideal Ann Arbor summer outing?

For me it's late afternoon\evening at dominics outside and then maybe a flick at top of the park (I know it's over for this year :( ) and then maybe another drink somewhere's downtown....

And when he finished including the bare-bosomed Biblical first woman, he inscribed the word "love" on the mural that covers the outside wall of his Roseville art studio.

In Ed (Gonzo) Stross' eyes, his variation on Michelangelo's "Creation of Man" mural is art.

In 39A District Judge Marco Santia's eyes, it's a crime.

Santia ordered jail time, a fine and probation -- a sentence that sounds a little harsh to a state senator, the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan and fellow artists.

hey annarborites!

i lived in the ann arbor area (read: just over the border in ypsilanti) for 5yrs, i alternately loved it, hated it, and loved it again. now i live in sterling va (yes, though far west it's still part of nova) and am a ms bioinformatics grad student at gmu. i miss a2! there is nowhere to walk around in nova like there is in a2, if you want to talk and be in a city (though granted alot more of a city than a2) then you have to go into dc...which isn't all bad. but i miss the lesbian bakeries and independent coffeeshops and yummy food on main street.
